Human resource planning (HRP) is that the continuous process of systematic planning ahead to realize optimum use of an organization’s most precious asset—quality employees. Human resources planning ensures the simplest fit between employees and jobs while avoiding manpower shortages or surpluses. There are four key steps to the HRP process. They include analyzing present labor supply, forecasting labor demand, balancing projected labor demand with supply, and supporting organizational goals. HRP is a crucial investment for any business because it allows companies to stay both productive and profitable.

Understanding Human Resource Planning

Human resource planning allows companies to plan ahead in order that they can maintain a gentle supply of skilled employees. That’s why it’s also mentioned as workforce planning. the method is employed to assist companies evaluate their needs and to plan ahead to satisfy those needs. Human resource planning must be flexible enough to satisfy short-term staffing challenges while adapting to changing conditions within the business environment over the long run . HRP starts by assessing and auditing the present capacity of human resources.

Challenges of Human Resource Planning

Analyzing Labor Supply

The first step of human resource planning is to spot the company’s current human resources supply. during this step, the HR department studies the strength of the organization supported the amount of employees, their skills, qualifications, positions, benefits, and performance levels.

Forecasting Labor Demand

The second step requires the corporate to stipulate the longer term of its workforce. Here, the HR department can consider certain issues like promotions, retirements, layoffs, and transfers—anything that factors into the longer term needs of a corporation . Kindly note, you have to submit these assignments to the Coordinator of your Study Centre within the stipulated time for being eligible to appear in the term-end examination. You must mention your Enrolment Number, Name, Address, Assignment Code and Study Centre Code on the first page of the assignment. You must obtain a receipt from the Study Centre for the assignments submitted and retain it. Keep photocopies of the assignments with you.

After evaluation, the assignments have to be returned to you by the Study Centre. Please insist on this and keep a record with you. The marks obtained by you will be sent by the Study Centre to the Student Evaluation Division at IGNOU, New Delhi.

Guidelines for Doing Assignments

There are five questions in each assignment, all carry equal marks. Attempt all the questions in not more than 500 words (each). You will find it useful to keep the following points in mind:

Planning: Read the assignments carefully. Go through the units on which they are based, make some points regarding each question and then rearrange them in a logical order

Organization and Presentation: Be analytical in your selection of the information for your answer. Give adequate attention to the introduction and the conclusion. Make sure that your answer is logical and coherent; has a proper flow of information.
